Live - Tides mysteriously advancing up the earth. Is the end nigh?

Timothy Lim

8:00 AM - Scientists have confirmed reports that the Pacific Ocean is slowly crawling up the California coast. Measurements of sea level in California have trended higher and higher over the last hour, and the average sea level has already increased by 3 inches across the entire coastline.

10:17 AM - Sea levels across California have risen by 2 inches; scientists cannot give a definitive answer to when the water will stop advancing. Many people are worried by this. One woman, John Ferris, had this to say:

“See, I’m very scared of the water. Drowning is a big fear of mine. The fact that the ocean is getting closer and closer? No good for me.”

12:56 PM - The president of the United States has been made aware of the issue, and had this to say.

“I’m going to build a big wall. It's gonna be a big, beautiful, impenetrable wall. Wait. What do you mean you want it on your coastline? Mexico’s to the south - Oh. What?”

The president was not available for further comment.

2:46 PM - California sea levels surge to new heights, up to 300% greater than measurements taken just 3 hours ago. California Governor Gavin Newsom declares a state of emergency and preemptively begins evacuation of coastal regions.

3:35 PM - California’s national guard has been assembled to assist with relief efforts. Construction on a temporary seawall, designed to buy time for citizens to escape, has begun.

4:47 PM - Sea level rise all across California has begun to slow. Scientists are cautiously optimistic that this marks the halt of rising sea levels.

5:21 PM - Sea levels have been confirmed as receding, celebration has erupted out the United States.

6:01 PM - Scientists warn that receding sea levels could mean that the pacific ocean is draining. Citizens advised to be cautious.
