Tilt of Earth’s Axis Plunges Entire Northern Hemisphere into an Ice Age

By Timothy Lim, The Garlic

What was once a cause for celebration has now turned into a source for dread. As the summer went by, global warming caused a dangerous rise in temperatures across the world. But in September, humanity was shocked by a strange reversal in fortunes: the temperature began to decrease. Scientists warned that this could simply be a minor dip before temperatures began to rise again, but they were proven wrong as trends only continued.

Celebrations erupted around the world, only to falter as temperatures showed no signs of stabilizing. Scientists have pinned the blame for decreasing temperatures on the tilt of Earth’s axis, and in many locations, it has caused temperatures to dip below the freezing point of water, in what many people have begun calling “Winter”.

In these times of uncertainty, it is certain that credible news organizations such as The Garlic, which I write for, will provide hope and knowledge, and keeping in line with that age old tradition, here are 3 critical things to know about this new “Winter.”

  1. Temperatures have seen a consistent drop across the Northern Hemisphere, from New York City to Moscow.

    1. In some locations, water has begun to freeze into ice, rendering it unfit for fishing, boating, drinking and swimming.

  2. Dramatic fluctuations in avian and mammalian populations have been observed.

    1. Birds have been observed fleeing to the South to escape colder temperatures. Scientists warn of severe ecological consequences in areas where birds arrive and depart.

    2. Other animals are affected as well. Grizzly bear sightings have plummeted since August, and many amphibious creatures, such as frogs, are absent.

    3. Humans are following suit, with many people partaking in a voluntary migration to Florida.

  3. Photosynthesis has grinded to halt as a direct result of the worsening climate, severely hampering the Earth’s ability to uptake carbon.

    1. In response to the lowering temperatures, trees across the globe have begun to shed their leaves. This makes it impossible for them to photosynthesize, reducing the Earth’s ability to replenish its store of oxygen.

    2. Ecologists warn that many animals that rely on leaves as food will see severe population decreases due to starvation.

As I write this from my office in Barrow, Alaska, I, and the others around me, can be reassured by the fact that no matter what happens, the Sun will always rise to warm our world once again.
